Heaven! If heaven had a taste, it would taste like Georgetown Cupcake, cupcakes. Light and feathery, yet delicately sweet and perfect. From the first time you lay your eyes on these flawless beauties, to the first bite and through to the last crumb, these cupcakes are simply heavenly.
I must be late in discovering this gem, as many people have tasted and reviewed Georgetown Cupcake’s petite little cakes. I see myself as quite the cupcake expert, I have been in many cupcakeries, baked too many to keep count and often find it very disappointing when I sink my teeth into the most beautiful looking cupcake, only to find an overly sweet, most disappointing ordinary cakelet.
But Georgetown Cupcake's, petite little cakes are distinctive. I found my self grinning from ear to ear, giggling like a little girl after sampling these babies. The cake part is soft and feathery, the serving size perfect and the icing fluffy and just sweet enough to balance the cake part. It feels like every single cupcake get’s a special touch and it is evident that much more care is taken with each little cupcake than it takes to devour them.
Furthermore the décor of the store is breathtaking and the staff very helpful and friendly. Georgetown Cupcake even lets you see the cupcake fairies at work and play in their fairy workshop, it’s a treat unto its own to watch them work their magic.
I wanted to recreate a little piece of heaven at home and tried my hand at their signature cupcake, a red velvet cupcake with a vanilla cream cheese frosting and a beautiful red fondant heart.
Although not as perfect, I again felt the excitement on making and decorating my cupcakes than I did when I stepped into their store.
Try them out, I wouldn’t discourage a trip to Georgetown to sample the real deal, but if you are unable to make it that far, my cupcakes are a perfect second.
